Compared to last week, the offerings were very light last week due to the week of extremely high temperatures, therefore no comparison is available for auction feeder cattle or auction slaughter cattle. Demand was reported throughout the state as moderate to good. Compared to last week, fed slaughter steers and heifers in the feed yards sold steady to 1.00 lower from 178.00 to 179.00. In the hay market, demand and trade activity remains slow, prices were steady. Producers report hot and dry conditions across the state as many continue swathing and baling their 3rd cuttings. With well above normal temperatures for the week, eastern Kansas witnessed further degradations in drought conditions.
