Compared to last week: Steer calves steady to 2.00 higher, heifers calves steady to 3.00 lower except 500-550 lbs 4.00 to 5.00 higher. Yearling feeder steers 950-1000 lbs 4.00 higher, other weights too lightly tested. Yearling heifers mostly steady. Good demand for this large offering of spring born calves. With this larger offering there were also more buyers this week and the market was much more active because of that fact. There were many strings of these high quality calves, the flesh remains very light and attractive overall as these cattle are coming off very dry conditions. Preconditioning status remains mixed, as many are only carrying their first rounds of the 7 way and viral shot but there are plenty of buyers who want to get these ranch raised calves bought while they are available regardless of preconditioning status. Good demand for yearlings, the market remains active as the yearling run winds down for the season. Special spring born calf sale again next week, Oct. 1, 2021.
