Compared to last week: Steer calves steady to 5.00 lower, except those 400-450 lbs 5.00 higher. Heifer calves steady to 3.00 lower. Yearling feeder steers scarce, yearling heifers steady to 1.00 higher in a narrow comparison. Good demand for this very large offering of high quality, very attractive steer and heifer calves, there were many long strings including full load lots and the market was active, the most activity was seen on those light weight steers weighing 400 lbs. The calves are coming to town heavier as we progress through the fall season, which is keeping demand red hot for those light weight cattle to make yearlings of. Flesh condition was a little more uneven this week, still plenty of those green calves but a few consignments carrying a tick more flesh and buyers are very discerning. It's still a mixed bag concerning fall preconditioning shots, there are still plenty of buyers to buy those calves that haven't had their fall boosters, fewer buyers exist for those calves that are just carrying a 7 way shot.
