Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers fully steady. Very good demand for this nice offering of very high quality grading, long time fed, steers and heifers. The market was active as packer buyers were willing to give steady money with last week even though the CME Live Cattle futures have fluctuated greatly this week. The cattle remain heavy, but as they quality grade like a house on fire, packer buyers aren't bothered by a steer weighing 1700 lbs or a heifer weighing 1500 lbs. Cash fed cattle in the country last week topped at 213.00, that price was not hard to achieve at the auction if the weigh-up and quality was right. Weighing conditions ranged from full, morning haul cattle, to a more fair weigh up on those hauled overnight. Estimated dressed cost looked to be in the high 330s.

Slaughter lambs 5.00 to 10.00 higher, instances of 15.00 to 20.00 higher on 110 lbs and 130 lbs. Slaughter ewes 10.00 to 15.00 higher, instances to 20.00 higher. Good demand for all weights of slaughter lambs. Very good demand for slaughter ewes. Good demand for the bred ewe offering.
