Compared to last week: Lighter offering this week with snow covered roads, lower undertones evident. Good demand for steers and heifers, in spite of a weaker futures complex. Five full loads of steers, 5 full loads of heifers, remainder stock trailer loads. The market was active as prices still were able to reach up nearly 10.00 over the Feb CME Live Cattle futures. Cattle remain heavy, as they have been fed a longtime and performed very well. Hides starting to show the effects of the recent moisture but still very eye appealing as they are very high quality grading.
Steady to lower undertones evident on slaughter lambs, much lighter receipts this week as snow moved through the area creating slick road conditions, Slaughter ewes steady to 5.00 higher. Good demand for slaughter lambs and ewes. Good demand for the offering of bred ewes.
