Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 4.00 to 6.00 lower, Holstein steers steady to 1.00 higher. Moderate to good demand this week as the all packers were active participants. Many full loads of high quality grading, hard fed steers and heifers, along with plenty of packages. Cattle continue to carry some tag, some very dirty. Estimated dressed cost looked to run from 173.00-177.00. Packers currently have very large margins and showed improved interest in buying cattle this week. Choice boxed beef was higher again, gaining .55 this morning at 207.64. The futures market fell hard again, putting more pressure on the market. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher, many fleshy, fed cows in the offering again. Slaughter bulls not well compared.

Slaughter lambs steady to 3.00 lower. Slaughter ewes were sharply lower. Feeder lambs not well tested in recent weeks to offer a comparison. Moderate to good demand for slaughter lambs. Moderate demand for slaughter ewes. Good demand for bred ewes and for open/exposed ewes to return to the country.
