Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers unevenly steady overall, as the sale opened higher but my midway through the sale it turned lower. Holstein steers steady. Light to moderate demand from packer buyers, early in the sale turning very light as the sale progressed. A large run of hard fed, high quality grading steers and heifers but few packer buyers participating. CME Live Cattle futures were lower but boxed beef values were higher again today, Choice boxes closing above 242.00. Weighing conditions weren't as favorable for buyers this week as many cattle were full and dirty. Estimated dressed cost ranged from 179.00-185.00. Two way buyers were willing to step in and buy some market ready cattle that looked to be a value, along with cattle that need more days on feed. 11 full loads of steers, 8 full loads of heifers, balance part loads and packages. Slaughter cows 1.00 to 2.00 higher than Monday's sale, bulls sold with much higher undertones.
Slaughter lambs 2.00 lower. Slaughter ewes not well compared. Feeder lambs sold with much lower undertones on a much lighter offering. Moderate demand for slaughter lambs, good demand for slaughter ewes and feeder lambs.
