Compared to last week: Much larger receipts this week, the best comparison was on steers 850-950 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 higher, other weights of steers and all weights of heifers sold with lower undertones. Good demand prevailed in spite of much lower CME Live and Feeder Cattle futures last Friday and today. Cash fed cattle were still able to trade from 210.00-215.00, but the futures broke hard. The market was very active on the light cattle offered, which were primarily in small packages. The supply of this class of cattle is limited, as is normal for this time of year, which results in much competition as there were plenty of buyers ready to buy these light steers and heifers. A good offering of heavier, finishing type cattle as there were several long strings offered in loads and multiple load lots. Flesh condition ranged from light to moderate plus. The market was rather active in spite of the uncertainty in the outlook in the marketplace. If the quality was right, and the flesh not too heavy there were plenty of buyers ready to compete heavily yet to buy the cattle they need.
