Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 3.00 to 5.00 lower, with instances to 10.00 lower. Light to moderate demand for this lighter offering of feeder cattle, best demand for light fleshed cattle for backgrounding. A few long strings of backgrounded yearling steers and heifers offered in full loads and multiple load lots, balance smaller packages of home-raised steers and heifers. The market activity was slow to moderate as CME Live and Cattle futures over 2.00 lower. These continued losses in the futures complex have cattle feeders extremely concerned and they are approaching the feeder cattle market very cautiously. Flesh condition light to moderate plus, the home-raised cattle that were strictly hay fed are in a very light flesh condition and look rough in appearance as the winter was long and harsh and spring has been cool and wet. Slaughter cows steady to instances of 2.00 higher than Wednesday's sale, bulls rather steady.
