Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 5.00 to 10.00 lower, except steers 850-900 lbs mostly steady and heifers under 600 lbs 2.00 to 4.00 lower. Demand light to moderate, best demand was centered on cattle in light enough weight and flesh for backgrounding. As the cattle futures complex opened the week lower, again, cattle feeders remain apprehensive about the fed cattle market in the months ahead. Futures contracts have lost more than 12.00 over the past two weeks. A good offering of feeder cattle this week, several long strings of backgrounded steers and heifers offered in full loads and mulitple load lots, giving cattle feeders the opportunity to make full pens of uniform cattle. Flesh condition light to rather heavy, buyers heistant to bid on fleshy cattle.
