Compared to last week: steer calves 400 to 499 lbs 60.00 to 70.00 lower, 500 to 649 lbs 40.00 to 50.00 lower. Heifer calves 400 to 449 lbs and 500 to 599 lbs 40.00 to 45.00 lower, 450 to 499 lbs 60.00 to 70.00 lower. Moderate to good demand for calves today. Another large offering featuring many loads and packages of calves coming off the cow, most of these were fully preconditioned and in light to moderate flesh. Quality varied, from plain to attractive. A moderate to active market but activity weakened throughout the day. The futures complex suffered yet another day of losses and buyers and feeders are unsure of where it will end. The uncertainty has pushed some buyers into waiting until the market stabilizes or has more direction, therefore, they are much more reserved in what they will bid on. Corn harvest is starting to wrap up, it was a plentiful harvest but much corn required drying. Next feeder cattle sale is Thursday, November 13.
