Compared to last week: steer calves 400 to 499 lbs 5.00 to 6.00 lower, 500 to 649 lbs 15.00 to 20.00 lower. Heifer calves 400 to 449 lbs 10.00 to 13.00 lower, 450 to 499 lbs mostly steady, 500 to 599 lbs 15.00 to 20.00 lower. Good to very good demand for calves today. Many packages and loads and sometimes multiple loads of home raised calves, most with full preconditioning. Quality was mostly attractive on these calves and flesh ranged from light to some moderate plus. An active market which strengthened throughout the day. Many buyers, farmer feeders, and some bull breeders in the seats, buying with much more enthusiasm than earlier this week. Even though it was not a day of huge gains on the futures board, it was not a day of limit losses either and this seemed to give buyers some motivation. Next feeder cattle sale is Thursday, November 6.
