Compared to last week: steer calves 400 to 449 mostly steady, 450 to 649 lbs 8.00 to 10.00 higher. Heifer calves 400 to 449 and 550 to 599 lbs 5.00 to 7.00 lower, 450 to 549 lbs 10.00 higher. Good demand for calves today with loads from a few reputation ranches seeing the best demand. Today's sale featured Simmental influenced calves. Many loads and packages were available, all coming off the cow. Most of these good quality calves had full preconditioning. or at the very minimum, one full round of fall shots. Flesh varied, from light to some moderate plus, as some calves had seen creep feed. An active market to start the sale but activity slowed throughout the day. A nice crowd of buyers and farmer feeders in the seats but another day of large losses on both live and feeder cattle futures has buyers erring on the side of caution again, however, more drive to get cattle bought than seen last week. Next feeder cattle sale is Thursday, November 20. This will be the last feeder cattle sale before Thanksgiving.
