Compared to last week: best test on steers 550 to 599 lbs 7.00 to 10.00 lower, 600 to 649 lbs steady, 650 to 699 lbs steady to 3.00 lower, 700 to 749 lbs 5.00 to 7.00 lower. Best test on heifers 550 to 599 lbs 6.00 to 8.00 lower. Moderate to good demand for calves today with replacement quality heifers seeing the best demand. Quite a few loads and many packages of home raised calves offered, a few consignments still coming off the cow but most were long time weaned. Quality was all over the map today, especially on packages, overall quality was much more attractive last week. Mostly grass or backgrounding type cattle today with less flesh overall than seen last week. A moderate to active market with a few less order buyers attending and a few more farmers and bull breeders in the seats, mostly interested in replacements. Next feeder cattle sale is Thursday, January 23.
