Compared to last week: best test on steers 500 to 649 lbs mostly steady. Best test on heifers 450 to 499 lbs 3.00 to 6.00 higher, 550 to 599 lbs mostly steady. Good to very good demand for a lighter offering today with best demand seen for load lots. The feature consignment was 650 steers from a family operation selling in multiple load lots enabling buyers to fill pens with same weight, home raised steers. Many packages offered as well, and similar to last week, quality varied quite a bit on these. Overall quality slightly more attractive than last week. Flesh mostly moderate to moderate plus, overall, more flesh on the cattle this week. An active market with plenty of farmer feeders and buyers in the seats. CME February and April live cattle have reached over 2.00 making cattle feeders very optimistic for the future months and determined to own cattle to market down the road. No feeder cattle next week as there will be a bred cattle sale and no sale the week after for the Black Hills Stock Show, next feeder cattle sale will be February 13.
