Compared to last week: steers 400 to 449 lbs 5.00 to 7.00 lower, 450 to 499 and 600 to 649 lbs steady to 2.00 higher, 500 to 599 lbs mostly steady with instances 4.00 lower on 500 to 549 lbs. Heifers 400 to 499 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 higher, 500 to 599 lbs 5.00 to 6.00 higher. Very good demand for this large calf offering featuring many loads and packages with load lots from reputation ranches seeing excellent demand. Lots of attractive quality calves to choose from, all coming off the cow. Flesh varied more this week but calves were still green enough and bloomy. Some discrimination on calves without all their shots but most of the offering had at least on full round which seems to be enough for quite a few buyers. An active market with a full house of buyers as well as some farmer feeders and bull breeders. Corn harvest is wrapping up, the weather basically caused no delays in getting harvest completed this year so it was accomplished pretty quickly. More feeders are ready to take on calves with the harvest out of the way. Next week features two feeder cattle sales, Tuesday, October 29, and Thursday, October 31.
