As filed

Compared to last week: steer calves 400 to 449 lbs 15.00 to 20.00 higher, 450 to 599 lbs 10.00 to 15.00 higher, best test on yearling steers 900 to 949 lbs 2.00 higher on a narrow comparison. Heifer calves 400 to 549 lbs 10.00 to 15.00 higher. Good to very good demand for a couple loads and packages of yearlings offered today. Yearlings came off grass in mostly moderate to moderate plus flesh with some fill at times. Very good demand for a large calf offering featuring many loads and packages. Calves were off the cow and preconditioning varied, but most had at least one full round of shots. Overall quality more attractive than last week with many fancy, green calves to choose from. Some price difference in hide color again this week resulting in larger price spreads in this report. An active market with both buyers and farmer feeders in the seats. Weather continues to be very dry and dusty with warm days and cool nights, not the best weather to wean and start calves. The weather has been good for harvest though and corn is coming off quickly. Two feeder cattle sales next week. Tuesday, October 22, featuring Red Angus calves, and Thursday, October 24.
