Compared to last Thursday: steer calves 400 to 649 lbs mostly steady with instances up to 10.00 lower on 400 to 499 lbs. Heifer calves 400 to 449 lbs 10.00 to 12.00 lower, 450 to 549 lbs 5.00 to 7.00 lower, 550 to 599 lbs 6.00 to 8.00 higher. Good to very good demand for this large calf offering with best demand seen during the last half of the sale which featured quite a few loads lots from reputation outfits. Less colored cattle than last week and less calves that hadn't been fully preconditioned, the majority of today's offering was black hided and had at least two rounds of shots. Quality varied, but mostly average to attractive quality calves on offer, all coming off the cow. Flesh condition was an attractive light to moderate. An active market with plenty of buyers and a few bull breeders in the seats, however, not quite the enthusiasm to get cattle bought as was seen last week. The temperatures have become more seasonally normal but dusty and dry conditions remain. Next feeder cattle sale is Thursday, November 7.
