Compared to last Tuesday: best test on steer calves 450 to 500 lbs 6.00 to 7.00 lower, 550 to 600 lbs mostly steady. Heifer calves not well compared. A much smaller sale than expected today due to rain on Sunday and Monday making roads and yards too muddy for trucks again. Today's lighter offering consisted of a couple loads and a handful of packages of yearlings off grass in light flesh and packages of spring calves. Moderate to good demand seen for yearlings, light to moderate demand for calves. Most calves today were red as today was the advertised Red Angus sale. Calves with clean hides and full preconditioning were met with the best demand. Calves without shots or only partial preconditioning were discounted. Some calves carried tag as the loading and pen conditions are tough. Market activity mostly moderate with a more limited attendance of buyers today. Any farmer feeders are concentrating on harvest right now and not interested in buying calves to feed. The next feeder cattle sale is Thursday, October 24. The Red Angus sale has been moved to November-watch local listings.
