Compared to last week: yearling steers not well compared, best test on yearling heifers 950 to 999 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 lower. Good to very good demand for yearling cattle today. Both grass and yard cattle in the offering including several strings of heifers off grass. Quality on packages varied with a few more plain cattle in the mix, loads and packages mostly average to attractive. Grass cattle in light to moderate flesh, lot cattle in moderate to heavy. The first offering of spring calves today which were met with good to very good demand with best demand for a reputation ranch which sells on this sale every year. Most calves were off the cow and had varied preconditioning, or some calves had no work done at all. Price spreads reflect calves having no vaccinations. Flesh ranged from light to moderate plus on calves. An active market for this Customer Appreciation BBQ sale. Both buyers and farmer feeders in the seats today. Many are still very busy with fall work. Beans harvest is moving quickly and some corn harvest has started. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, October 15.
