Compared to last week: yearling steers not well compared. Best test on yearling heifers 900 to 949 lbs 15.00 to 20.00 higher. No good comparisons on spring calves. Very good demand for yearlings today with those coming off grass seeing the best demand. Several strings of grass cattle available, mostly in light to moderate flesh and attractive in quality. A few consignments of lot cattle also, some in heavy flesh, but buyers are happy to own these cattle also, just with a price adjustment. A few spring calves on offer today, these met with good to very good demand. Mostly packages of calves with just a couple loads, flesh ranged from light to moderate plus. Buyers are very choosy on vaccinations and those calves without a solid shot record are discounted. Quality varied on calves, from plain to attractive. An active market with buyers and farmer feeders in the seats. The recent advances of the futures complex have put quite a bit of enthusiasm back in the market and buyers are wanting to have cattle on hand to market in the future, which looks very bright. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, October 22.
