Compared to last week: steers 950 to 999 lbs steady to 4.00 lower, 1000 to 1099 lbs 6.00 to 10.00 higher. Heifers not well compared. Good demand for yearlings this week with best demand for those light fleshed yearlings off grass. Quite a few strings and loads again this week including some of the same consignors as last week as they gather from different areas. A few loads and packages of feedlot cattle, flesh ranged from moderate to heavy with some tag at times. Many packages of tested open heifers coming off grass that buyers could put together and make loads. Quite a bit of variation of quality again this week, from plain to attractive. A single consignment of spring calves offered and met with moderate demand, most yards are not ready to take on calves yet. An active market seen for this offering. Producers are busy with harvest, both bean and silage harvest are going quickly. Many fields are wet from rains two weeks ago making it harder to get around and get loads out. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, October 8, the customer appreciation sale which will include both yearlings and spring calves.
