Compared to last week: steers 850 to 899 lbs mostly steady with an instance 8.00 higher, 950 to 999 lbs steady to 2.00 lower, 1000 to 1049 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 lower on a narrow comparison. Heifers 850 to 899 lbs steady. Good demand for yearlings this week. A wider range of quality offered today, from plain to attractive, with cattle both off grass and out of yards. Flesh on grass cattle mostly light to moderate, yard cattle were in moderate to heavy flesh. Several strings with multiple loads of same weight cattle, however, buyers were more reserved and chose to pick through loads or buy a couple loads instead of all loads of a cut. A moderate to active market with the normal crowd of bidders attending but less drive and more caution toward owning cattle this week. The end of last week brought rain to the area bringing some silage harvest to a halt until fields dry out. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, October 1.
