Compared to last week: steers 600 to 749 lbs 7.00 to 10.00 higher with instances up to 15.00 higher, 750 to 949 lbs mostly steady with instances up to 7.00 higher on 750 to 799 lbs. Heifers 600 to 649 lbs and 700 to 749 lbs fully steady, 650 to 699 lbs and 750 to 799 lbs unevenly steady. Similar to recent weeks, very good demand for grass and backgrounding type cattle, good to very good demand for finishing type cattle depending on flesh condition. Another large offering this week with many packages and loads but also many multiple loads of same weight cattle, quite a few of these being home raised. Despite the lack of moisture seen this winter and spring, buyers are very determined to get cattle bought for grass and these kind of cattle get fewer as grass time gets closer making for a very active market on these cattle as buyers furiously compete for them. An active market on finishing type cattle which were mostly attractive in quality but had some extra flesh at times. Very little moisture seen from the system that passed through over the weekend, the dry conditions are a major concern for producers. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, March 26.
