Compared to last week: steers 600 to 699 lbs, 750 to 799 lbs, and 850 to 899 lbs mostly steady with an instance 10.00 higher on 650 to 699 lbs, 700 to 749 and 800 to 849 lbs 7.00 to 12.00 higher, 900 to 949 lbs 5.00 to 6.00 higher, 950 to 999 lbs steady to 2.00 higher. Heifers 600 to 749 lbs 4.00 to 8.00 higher, 750 to 849 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Very good demand for backgrounding and grass type cattle, good to very good demand for finishing type cattle depending on flesh condition. Another very large offering this week featuring many packages, loads, and multiple loads with the majority of these cattle being home raised as many producers clean out to prepare for calving. Quality similar to the last few weeks with many attractive cattle to choose from throughout the day. Flesh condition varied, from moderate to heavy, and buyers are especially mindful of overfed cattle with the current tight breakeven costs. Cattle were mostly clean hided this week, warm weather and wind have dried lots out. An active market with plenty of buyers and farmer feeders in the seats. There is a chance for rain or snow or both this weekend, most producers are hoping for some moisture as it is terribly dry. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, March 19.
