Compared to last week: best test on yearling steers 850 to 899 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 higher. Best test on yearling heifers 800 to 849 lbs and 900 to 949 lbs 3.00 to 5.00 higher with instances up to 8.00 higher on 800 to 849 lbs. Steer and heifer calves not well compared. Good to very good demand for loads and packages of yearlings today. Most of the yearlings are still coming off grass, flesh on these cattle mostly moderate to moderate plus with a few yard cattle in heavy flesh. Mostly good demand for calves today with load lots seeing the best demand. Not too many consignments of calves moving in this area yet as many producers are choosing to finish harvest while the weather is good. Quality on calves varied again this week but more attractive calves to choose from than last week. Most calves had at least one full round of shots and those without or with just a 7 way shot saw discounted prices. An active market today with both buyers and a few farmer feeders in the seats. Some farmers are finishing up corn harvest, the weather remains fairly warm and dry. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, October 30.
