Compared to last week: best test on yearling steers 800 to 849 lbs mostly steady, 900 to 949 and 1000 to 1049 lbs 2.00 to 6.00 higher, 950 to 999 lbs 2.00 to 4.00 lower. Best test on yearling heifers 800 to 849 lbs 2.00 to 4.00 lower. Calves not well compared. Good to very good demand for yearlings this week. Several long strings as well as many loads and packages of yearlings to choose from, both off grass and out of yards. Grass cattle carried a bit more flesh overall than last week and had some fill at times. Just a few consignments of calves in today's offering which were met with moderate demand. Most of the calves sold in packages and most were off the cow, one consignment was weaned 45 days. Vaccinations varied and calves without a good shot record are a harder sell. Plain to average quality on the calves today. An active market on yearlings, moderate on calves. Weather remains mild and dry, conditions are very good for harvesting and that is what most producers are busy doing. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, October 23.
