Compared to last week: best test on steers 900 to 949 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 higher, 950 to 999 lbs mostly steady. Heifers not well compared this week. Good to very good demand for today's offering featuring several strings of backgrounded cattle as well as loads and packages of home raised cattle including quite a few weaned fall calves. Opportunities to buy something green for grass were limited today as most cattle were carrying some flesh, quite a few cattle in moderate plus flesh with some heavy flesh seen at times. Quality varied, but mostly average to attractive. An active market with buyers taking multiple loads when offered to fill pens. Despite the volatility the futures have exhibited the past few weeks, buyers are still optimistic for fall and are determined to have cattle on hand to market. Scattered rain showers across the area today but the last week has been dry and farmers have been busy getting the crop in, many cattle are on grass already. Pasture conditions look very good at this point. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, May 22.
