Compared to last week: best test on steers 650 to 699 lbs and 800 to 899 lbs mostly steady, 900 to 949 lbs steady to 3.00 lower, 950 to 999 lbs steady to 2.00 higher. Heifers not well compared today. Good demand for today's offering featuring a couple strings of backgrounded cattle as well as many loads and packages of home raised cattle. Light cattle continue to see very good demand as grass time is only a few weeks away and some still have pastures to fill. Less flesh overall than last week with most cattle in moderate to moderate plus flesh. Quality varied more this week with more plain cattle on offer, especially in packages. An active market seen for this offering, buyers took advantage of multiple loads when offered to fill pens. Buyers still have quite a bit of optimism for fall despite the uncertainty the board has been displaying the last couple weeks. The area received a very nice slow rain yesterday which will get grass and small grains already planted off to a good start. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, April 24.
