Compared to last week: steers 650 to 749 lbs 8.00 to 12.00 higher, 750 to 999 lbs 2.00 to 6.00 higher. Heifers lightly tested last week with best comparison on heifers 600 to 649 lbs 10.00 to 14.00 higher. Good to very good demand for today's large offering featuring strings and loads of backgrounded cattle as well as packages and loads of home raised cattle. Cattle suitable for grass continue to see excellent demand as the opportunity to get these type of cattle bought to fill pastures dwindles each week. Many attractive quality cattle to choose from today and quite a few opportunities for buyers to purchase multiple loads to fill pens which buyers took advantage of some of the time. Flesh varied, but mostly moderate to moderate plus with some heavy flesh at times, buyers were not overly discriminatory on flesh condition. An active market today despite a down futures board. Cattle feeders remain optimistic for the fall marketing season and are determined to own cattle to sell at this time. Field work has started in the area with small grains and some corn being planted, rain is in the forecasted for the weekend. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, May 1.
