Compared to last week: best test on steer calves 500 to 649 lbs mostly steady, yearling steers not well tested this week. Best test on heifer calves 450 to 499 lbs 8.00 to 12.00 lower, 550 to 599 lbs mostly steady, yearling heifers 1000 to 1049 lbs 10.00 to 15.00 lower. Good demand for yearling cattle today. Most of the yearling offering was heifers selling in load lots. Flesh condition varied, from moderate to some heavy flesh, a few cattle were still coming off grass. Moderate to good demand for calves today. A couple of loads available but most of the calves sold in packages and off the cow except for one consignment of long time weaned calves. Quality ranged from plain to attractive. Most calves had at least one good round of fall shots and many had a full shot record. A moderate to active market today with most of the normal buyers and a few farmer feeders in the seats. A slightly negative day on the futures complex to finish out the week. Buyers are still trying to navigate this market and decide what these bawling calves are worth making for a slower, more cautious sale pace. No sale next week due to Thanksgiving, next feeder cattle sale is Friday, December 5.
