Compared to last week: Feeder steers 3.00 to 5.00 higher, except 750-800 lbs 10.00 to 12.00 higher. Feeder heifers 2.00 to 6.00 higher. Very good demand for steers and heifers this week, as the cash fed cattle market made new historical high prices, and summer months of the CME Live Cattle futures are at and above 200.00. The market was most active on those light fleshed cattle to develop into yearlings on this summers' grass. Supplies of this class of cattle are getting harder to come by. Many long strings of backgrounded steers and heifers, offered in full loads and multiple load lots. The market was active but flesh condition was a factor. The dry, easy winter this year made it very easy for cattle to stay comfortable and gain quickly, this has resulted in some cattle carrying a little more flesh. The next feeder cattle sale will be Friday April 4, 2025.
