Compared to last week: steers 500 to 549 lbs mostly steady, 550 to 599 lbs not well compared, 600 to 749 lbs 4.00 to 8.00 higher with instances up to 15.00 higher, 750 to 799 lbs not well compared, 800 to 899 lbs 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Heifers 500 to 699 lbs mostly steady except 600 to 649 lbs 5.00 to 8.00 higher with instances up to 15.00 higher. Very good demand for all classes of cattle today. A couple of backgrounded strings and many home raised loads and packages made up the offering which sold on an active market. Lots of backgrounding and grass type cattle again this week and a few less finishing types, therefore, less flesh overall on the cattle than seen last week. Quality was average to attractive today. A friendly cattle on feed report today but a lower feeder and live cattle board, buyers paid no attention and competed to get cattle bought, especially for grass orders. The area remains dry which is a concern for summer grass conditions. Next feeder cattle sale is Friday, March 28.
