Compared to last week: best test on steers 700 to 749 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 higher, other weight classes of steers and heifers not well compared. A much larger offering than last week with the warmer temps bringing many cattle to town that had waited out the subzero weather. Good to very good demand for big, finishing type cattle, very good demand for grass and backgrounding cattle. Many loads and packages and a few multiple loads on offer, both home raised and backgrounded. Flesh varied quite a bit, from moderate to heavy flesh at times. The warmer weather has brought on the mud and cattle were not as clean as last week but there wasn't a terrible amount of tag. Quality was mostly average to attractive and buyers had no trouble filling loads. An active market despite a lower day on both feeder and live cattle futures, attitudes remain very optimistic. Mild temperatures expected to continue next week. Next feeder cattle sale is Friday, March 7.
