As filed

No sale last week due to Labor Day, compared to two weeks ago: best test on steers 950 to 1049 lbs steady. Heifers not well compared. Mostly good demand for this large yearling offering. A handful of packages offered but most of the cattle sold in strings and loads. The entire offering came off grass, however, flesh ranged from light to moderate plus. Quality varied, but mostly average to attractive overall. A moderate to active market with activity weakening as the sale progressed, the futures complex continues to keep buyers guessing. Optimism felt earlier this year in the industry has disappeared as the futures continue to disappoint. Corn silage harvest has started in this area, conditions are a bit on the dry side and rain would be welcome. Next feeder cattle sale is Friday, September 13.
