Compared to last week: best test on steers 600 to 649 lbs 2.00 higher, 750 to 799 lbs and 850 to 899 lbs 5.00 to 7.00 higher with instances up to 10.00 higher on 750 to 799 lbs. Heifers not well compared today. Good to very good demand for all classes of cattle today. Aside from a string of backgrounded steers, the majority of the offering was home raised. Quality and flesh were very attractive and cattle were clean hided and open haired. Quite a few guys still trying to fill their grass orders, a task that gets tougher every week as supplies dwindle and has also gotten quite a bit more expensive. Market was active to very active. Buyers are determined to own cattle for the fall marketing season. The futures ended the day on a positive note. The weather is expected to cool off over the weekend and next week with a chance of snow. Next feeder cattle sale is Friday, March 22.
