Compared to last week: best test on steers 600 to 649 lbs steady to 5.00 lower, best test on heifers 600 to 649 lbs 10.00 to 12.00 higher, other weight classes of steers and heifers not well compared. Good to very good demand for a couple strings of yearling steers on offer. Quality on yearlings more attractive than last week and carrying less flesh overall. Good demand for calves today. Mostly packages of calves with just a couple of loads, all but one consignment were weaned. The majority of the calves were home raised and flesh was mostly moderate to moderate plus today. A few less colored cattle than last week. A moderate to active market with the weather putting some pressure on things. Very cold temperatures and windchills in this area and blizzard conditions in the southern part of the state will make travel difficult and dangerous. Bitter conditions expected to continue into the beginning of next week. Next feeder cattle sale is Friday, January 19.
