Unlike last week, most of today's calves were weaned and preconditioned, just a few packages off the cow. Flesh varied, from light to moderate plus with some heavy flesh at times, depending on what feedstuffs are available to the producer. Many producers struggled to get hay up this summer as the weather was so wet, and hay quality has been poorer this year. Mostly average to attractive quality calves today. An active market with more interest in getting cattle bought than a week ago. Very cold temperatures fore casted for the next week. Net feeder cattle sale is next Friday, January 17.
