Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers and heifers unevenly steady. Very good demand for this large offering of feeder cattle and replacement quality heifers. The market was very active on all classes of cattle, whether it was the light fall calves, bigger cattle ready for feedyards, or bangs vaccinated heifers ready to make into replacement heifers, there were plenty of buyers on the seats and on the internet competing heavily. Flesh condition ranged from light hay fed cattle to more moderate flesh cattle that had been fed lightly. There is a lot of optimism in the market currently, as cash fed cattle reached the 260.00 level this week, yet there is also concern as the cattle futures suffered another day of losses. Next feeder cattle sale will be May 22, 2026.
