Compared to last Wednesday's special black hided calf sale: Steers from 400 lbs to 549 lbs were generally 30.00 to 50.00 lower, steers from 550 lbs to 599 lbs were 3.00 to 5.00 lower, steers from 600 lbs to 649 lbs were 15.00 to 25.00 lower. Heifers from 400 lbs to 449 lbs were 3.00 to 5.00 lower, heifers from 450 lbs to 549 lbs were mostly 15.00 to 25.00 lower. No other weight classes comparable. Big run of high quality calves for todays special black hided calf sale. Most of the calves had spring and fall vaccinations, were right off the cow , clean haired and attractive for quality. A fairly active market considering the recent action of the futures market. House full of people with order buyers, farmer feeders and internet buyers competing for todays offering. Wide price range within weight classes depending on vaccinations, quality and eye appeal. Next feeder sale is Friday, October 31st, expecting a nice run of old crop yearlings and a large run of spring born calves.
