Compared to last week: Steer calves under 450 lbs were too lightly tested last week to develop an accurate market trend, however higher to sharply higher undertones were noticed; 450-599 lbs steer calves sold mostly steady to 5.00 lower, steer calves over 600 lbs were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, however steady to higher undertones were noticed. Heifer calves under 400 lbs were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, however steady to higher undertones were noticed; 400-449 lbs sold 6.00-10.00 higher, 450 lbs and heavier sold steady to 3.00 higher. Demand was mostly moderate to good throughout todays sale. Demand for heifers suitable to develop into replacements was very good as several ranchers were on hand actively bidding on high quality offerings. Both feeding buyers and replacement buyers competed over offerings pushing feeding heifers close to steer price in places. Demand for light weight calves was mostly good today as several buyers were active in buying steers and heifers under 450 lbs to develop into yearlings. Quality today was mostly attractive with many sets of fresh, clean calves straight off the cow. Many sets of calves had preconditioning shots and these offerings sold with the best demand. Market activity this week was mostly active. Weigh up cows sold on light to moderate demand for heavy offerings. Packers opted to send most of the cow offering to feed this week as we are just 3 weeks from the Thanksgiving holiday week. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 2.00 lower on boning and lean cows, breaking cows sold fully steady. Slaughter cow quality was lower this week as packers opted to feed most able bodied cows. Feeding cows sold mostly steady to 2.00 higher. Slaughter bulls were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, however steady to firm undertones were noticed. Feeding bull buyers were unwilling to take heavy weight bulls to feed which created uneven prices in places. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold steady to 5.00 higher. Demand for rebreed offerings remains very good.
