Compared to last week: Steer calves under 400 lbs were too lightly tested either this week or last week to develop an accurate market trend, however higher undertones were noticed, steers over 400 lbs sold generally steady to weak. Heifer calves all sold steady to 5.00 lower. Quality today was mixed from plain to attractive. High quality feeders of both sexes sold fully steady today while average or smaller packages sold lower. Demand for cattle to develop into yearlings or for heifers to develop into replacements remains very good. A good crowd of ranchers was on hand again this week searching for both of these offerings. Market activity today was mostly moderate. Weigh up cows sold on mostly moderate demand for heavy offerings. Packers continue to opt to send most cow offerings to feed, either for the upcoming holiday or to feed to premium white. Feeding cow demand remains very good with both packers and private feeders actively buying cows to feed. Feeding cows sold steady to firm on all cows returning to feed. Slaughter cows sold generally steady on boning and lean cows, breaking cows were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, lower undertones were noticed. Weigh up conditions were average to below average this week with more full offerings noticed than last week. Cow quality was mostly plain to average this week and noticeable lower than last week. Slaughter bulls sold generally steady in a very narrow comparison. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold mostly 5.00 lower. Young age cows were of mostly plain to average quality this week and not as attractive as last week.
