Compared to last week: Steer calves under 500 lbs sold mostly 5.00 lower in a very narrow comparison, 500-599 lbs steers sold mostly 3.00-4.00 higher, steers calves over 600 lbs sold mostly 10.00-12.00 higher in a narrow comparison. Heifer calves under 400 lbs sold sharply higher in a narrow comparison, 400-449 lbs heifers sold fully steady; heifers 450-549 lbs sold mostly 3.00-5.00 higher; heifers over 600 lbs were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, however higher undertones were noticed. Quality this week was mixed from plain to attractive. Most light weight calves were plain to average in quality while calves over 500 lbs were mostly attractive. Demand was mostly moderate to good for light to moderate offerings. Several ranchers were in the stands looking for heifers to make replacements, however most offerings sold to feeding buyers again this week. A large crowd was on hand again this week with several farmer feeders in the mix bidding on grass cattle. Market activity this week was mostly moderate to active. Weigh up cows sold on mostly light to moderate demand for light to moderate offerings. Slaughter cows were too lightly tested on breaking cows to develop an accurate market trend, steady undertones were noticed. Boning and lean cows sold mostly 1.00-3.00 lower. Feeding cows sold steady to 3.00 lower. Cow and bull quality was mostly average this week and overall lower than last week. Weigh up conditions were mostly average to below average today with several sets of cows packing fill. Slaughter and feeding bulls were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, steady undertones were noticed. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold steady to 3.00 higher. Quality was mostly average to attractive this week.
