Compared to last reported sale(8-9-22): Feeder cattle were too lightly tested last sale to develop an accurate market trend, however steady to weak undertones were noticed on all offerings. Demand for feeder cattle was moderate to good for light offerings. Quality was mixed from plain to attractive. Corn prices have risen sharply since last sale and buyers were slightly more reserved as they bid on offerings. A good crowd was on hand for todays sale and buyers were competitive as they bid on offerings. Market activity was mostly moderate to active. Weigh up cows sold on mostly moderate demand for light offerings. The last test for slaughter cows was 3 weeks ago making comparisons difficult. Not enough cows were seen today to develop any market trend. Demand for slaughter cows remains mostly good. Packer buyers continue to send all cow offerings to immediate harvest. Feeding cows were not tested this week. Weigh up conditions were mixed this week with lots of variation seen. Slaughter bulls sold steady to 1.00 lower. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed were too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Demand was mostly light to moderate.
