Compared to last week: Feeder cattle were too lightly tested last sale to develop an accurate market trend, however higher undertones were noticed on all offerings. Demand for feeder cattle was very good for light offerings. Quality was mixed from plain to attractive. Many sets of light weight fall calves that had been on grass were seen this week. The stands were full for todays sale as many buyers were on hand as well as on the internet actively bidding on offerings. Market activity this week was mostly active. Weigh up cows sold on mostly good to very good demand for light offerings. Slaughter cattle demand was good to very good and packer buyers opted to send all offerings to immediate harvest this week. The southern plains saw heavy rains over the last week or so with many locations receiving 4-7 inches. This has helped slow some of the heavy marketings that were being seen. Demand from western packers remains strong. An additional slaughter cow buyer was on hand this week. Breaking and lean cows were too lightly tested last sale to develop an accurate market trend, however higher undertones were noticed. Boning cows offered the best comparison this week as these offerings sold 8.00-9.00 higher. Feeding cows were not tested this week. Slaughter bulls sold 3.00-6.00 higher. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed were too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Demand was mostly good and stronger this week than last sale.
