Compared to last sale(8-30-22): Feeder steers were too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Yearling heifers under 800 lbs sold 3.00-4.00 higher, heifers 800-950 lbs sold 4.00-8.00 lower, all other weights of heifers were too lightly tested either this week or last sale to develop any market trend. Demand and offerings for feeder cattle was light to moderate. Quality today was mostly average to attractive. The best demand was seen for light weight yearlings that will finish in the first quarter of 2023, which were pushed higher mostly by stronger packer demand. Corn prices continue to push higher which continues to put pressure on the yearling market. A good crowd was on hand for todays sale and buyers were competitive as they bid on offerings. Market activity was mostly moderate to active. Weigh up cows sold on mostly moderate demand for light offerings. Cows were too lightly tested last sale to develop an accurate market trend, however steady undertones were noticed on slaughter cows. Feeding cow demand was much stronger this week as private feeders and packer buyers both put cows away to feed. Feeding cows were not tested last week thus no trend is available. Weigh up conditions were mixed this week with lots of variation seen. Slaughter bulls sold 7.00-9.00 lower as packer buyers all showed significantly lighter demand for bulls. Most bulls were coming off range and have been out breeding, bull yields were lower as a result. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed were too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Demand was mostly light to moderate.
