A good crowd was on hand for the Central Missouri Show-Me Select Bred Heifer sale held at South Central Regional Stockyards. 167 head from 18 consignors averaged $1829/head with a top of $2100. Demand was moderate compared to the sale last May which averaged $1961/head.

The sale was coordinated by the Show-Me Select Board with University Extension, Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen's Association and the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, muscle thickness, body condition and weight. They have undergone a comprehensive health program and are guaranteed bred with a percentage fetal sexed. All heifers are mated to calving ease bulls and expected to calve from mid August to mid November. Heifers were graded and sorted into uniform lots according to projected calving dates and body type.
