A large crowd gathered for the Central Missouri Show-Me Select Bred Heifer sale held at South Central Regional Stockyards. 159 head from 18 consignors averaged $1961/head with a top of $2400. 70 head of A.I. bred heifers averaged $2076 and 89 head of natural service heifers averaged $1869/head.The sale was coordinated by the Show Me Select Board with University Extension, Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen's Association and Missouri Department of Agriculture. Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition and weight. They have undergone a comprehensive health program and are guaranteed bred with a percentage fetal sexed. All heifers are mated to calving ease bulls and expected to calve from mid August to mid November. Heifers were graded a sorted into uniform lots according to projected calving dates and body type.
