All heifers in the sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. A strict immunization program has been followed including Brucellosis calf-hood vaccination and tested negative for PI-BVD. Heifers were bred to bulls meeting strict calving ease/birth weight EPDs. Projected calving dates were given with most heifers expected to calve from late January through March. All heifers were screened for blemishes, muscle, frame, body condition score (BCS) and disposition by a screening committee consisting of official graders from the Missouri Department of Agriculture, then sorted into lots according to calving dates and similar body types.
A large crowd was on hand to see the 111 heifers that sold in 32 lots. Several of the consignors were long time participants of the Show-Me-Select Heifer Program, along with one new producer that took part in this years program. Quality and condition was excellent with several lots of Red Angus and red white face cross heifers to go along with the traditional mostly black offering in this years sale. Sale average for the 111 head was 2080.00 per head, which was 198.00 per head higher than the November 2021 sale.
