*Special Note* This was a difficult sale for this market reporter to cover, there is no grass in areas of southern Missouri due to drought, a lot of the planer cattle and older cows in 2nd and 3rd stage were sold by the pound and sent to slaughter, pairs were separated and calves sold and cows went to slaughter because they bring the producer more money. As cattle producer from southeast Mo with 85 cows and been getting just enough rain to keep grass under my cattle and 25 years of selection and genetics in my herd to see them all being sold on a sunny Saturday afternoon in August at discount prices would be devastating, I feel so sorry for my fellow cattle producers going thru this.
A smaller than average crowd was on hand for the Special Replacement Cattle Sale at the Ozark Regional Stockyards on Saturday , August 13; Demand was much lower and supply moderate, Bred cows sold $425.00 / head lower than the last special sale in February sale with the top price $1500.00/head for package of 61 head 3-6 yr old in the 2nd and 3rd stage. Pairs sold $560.00 lower with the top price of $1700.00 for a package of 12 head of 3-6 year old, bred back in 1st stage with 400 lb calves by there side.
